My NYSC Story by Victor Agu

Image
MY NYSC STORY I have realized that NYSC was no scam for me. The experience was awesome and I was able to achieve so much. I built capacity, and got ready for the outside world. My name is Victor Agu, a former Kwara corper (2018 batch C1) and I have the following experiences to share. As I write, quick memories of how I admired serving as a kid continue to flood my mind. However, I’m both happy and grateful to God that I lived out my childhood admirations. OK, let’s go on a journey: As a very near first class Economics graduate{4.40/5.00} from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state; I left school heavily wounded and dented, as I got kicked out of a first class in only my last semester on campus. The why and how is a story for another day. But then, I also left school back to Lagos with much zest, fire, a reason to live out my dreams and to stay at the top of my game. I quickly applied around, attended a couple of interviews and worked a little on arriving Lagos.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD by Amadi Ikechukwu Emmanuel

Image
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD By; Amadi Ikechukwu Emmanuel The forest trees were beginning to form a uniform path, as the pick up van upped its speed, thrashing anything in its path.            Their abductors were not masked, they too were not blindfolded, they didn't have to be. Clinging on to his mother’s breast, with his arms tightly wrapped around her stomach………              “Yaro!.....na only you get am for mama…..comot your hand for there barawu!” he shouted, smacking John’s hand as he offered resistance. His Mom looked up at the man bent over her and her child, her eyes were teary and her hands shaky. His face showed no emotion, it was clearly not the first.                “ Aiyee! Aiyee!! Aiyee!!!......” yelps of pain came from the van in front of theirs. From what Esther could see tilting her head to the back, one of the abductors got his pinky finger bitten off by a woman he was trying to carass on the face. She was sprayed with bullets for the action as he continu

6 Creative Thinking Hats for Ideas & Solving Problems by Richard Okiasi

6 Creative Thinking Hats for Processing Ideas & Solving Problems”  By; Richard Okiasi I just got off the phone with a friend; we have not talked to each other for a long time, so we had a lot to talk about, business, future plans, current project, women, marriage etc. The highlight of our conversation was our undergraduate days, we had a lot to reminisce and laugh about. During the course of our conversation, he brought to my knowledge something I taught him back in school. It was the “6 hats” for creative thinking that I learnt in a leadership workshop from one coach Obafemi. You see, my friend was a leader in the same organization with me back in school but he was having serious issues processing his thoughts/ideas or deciding how to approach his plans. Things were getting out of hand as my friend was taking lots of error and was beginning to look incompetent. He was coming up with half processed ideas to meetings and when people probed further with critical qu

6 WAYS TO IMPROVE ONESELF  By; HARUNA SHUKURAT ADERONKE Change can only occur when we rise up and work towards development. No dream is impossible when we have the courage and believe. Why do we often refuse to make choices that would help us be our best? Why do we refuse to be good to ourselves and hoping that things will change? Change can only occur when we rise up and work towards development. No dream is impossible when we have the courage and believe. What’s that one simple act that can work to your advantage and help you become better? Below are six ways you can improve your life. 1. FACE YOUR FEARS Everyone is scared of something, running away from our fears makes us weak and unproductive. You have to face your fears and overcome them, they are a challenge you'll have to overcome. 2. FORGIVE YOURSELF Admit your mistakes to yourself. Learn from your past and use the lessons for future events. Focus on the now and stop reflecting on the moments

CYCLE OF HURT AND REBOUNDS by; Erharhine Susan

CYCLE OF HURT AND REBOUNDS By; Erharhine Susan Rebound is an undefined period of romance which sets off after a break up or a broken relationship. It is tagged as a substitute a replacement of the old love “Rebound” and “Moving on” do this two words mean the same thing or are they separately interrelated? Rebound is mostly identified with the female gender, am not trying to discard the slightly chances of the male gender in one way or the other having gone through a phase such as this. Rebound is an undefined period of romance which sets off after a break up or a broken relationship. It is tagged as a substitute a replacement of the old love. Rebound is actually an healing phase, a period of moving on and getting over what has been left behind. Why do most ladies have rebounds?...... one thing is for sure certainly to fill up the gap left behind by an Ex-partner. When in a period of hurt considered healthy, from my perspective that individual is in a place of contempt,
