10 Must Reads on Money and Personal Finance

Hello friend,

Do you know that school has not, and will not teach you or anybody anything about money and personal finance (how to make or manage it)?

Do you understand that the whole responsibility of your financial education rests on your shoulders?

The truth is, if you do not do anything about your financial education, there’s very little that your knowledge alone will do for you. Without a proper financial education, wherever your knowledge stops is the end of your financial journey.

Hence, there’s a need to invest more time in yourself and your education especially when it comes to your finance.

If you’ve made up your mind to move ahead financially, getting some financial education is your surest bet of achieving that.

Moreso, If you are interested in starting your financial education, and you are looking for the best crop of books to start with, this article is the best article you’ll read on the internet this year.

Why do I say so?

Because this article will answer your basic money questions and guide you to start your financial journey based on gained knowledge.

These are the top 10 books on Money and Financial Education that I’ve put together to help you start your financial education.

I arranged them according to how I feel is best for you. Read them according to how I’ve listed them and see the magic connections and flow in these literatures.

Richest Man in Babylon- George S. Clason: I describe this book as the fundamental book for financial education. It’s one of the oldest books out there on the topic of money, and despite how long ago it was written, the knowledge is still ever fresh. The book will teach you the basics of saving, how to pay off your debts, securing your money from loss, staying away from gambling etc. start here and you’ll never regret it.

Rich Dad Poor Dad- Robert Kiyosaki: Robert’s book took the world by storm especially with his idea about what is an asset and what is a liability. This book will teach you the thoughts and behaviour of the rich folks. Read this book!

The Science of Getting Rich- Wallace D. Wattles: This book will give a mind shift. It is with no doubt one of the best psychological books about money. If you hate rich people, hate money, believe money is the root of evil, rich people are greedy and being poor makes you noble, this book is for you. He’ll help you understand that whoever or whatever you want to become in life, you need Money. If you want to be a noble man that does good, you’ll need to have money to accomplish those dreams.

Think and Grow Rich- Napoleon Hill: Written with a hidden formulae/secret that binds all wealthy people. If there’s nothing you’ll learn from this all time best seller, you’ll learn that money is first made in your mind before you can hold it in your hand. If you cannot make money in your mind, you’ll not be able to hold it in your hand, ever!

Cash Flow Quadrant- Robert Kiyosaki: You cannot talk about money and personal finance and not talk about this book; Cash Flow Quadrant classifies everyone into 4 income groups (Self-Employed, Employee, Business Owner and Investor), then teach you how to channel your funds to create more streams of income (cash flow) no matter what part of the quadrant you earn from.

Why Didn’t They Teach Me This in School- Gary Siezel: Here you learn about Money (Credit cards, Mortgages) and Personal Finance (Spending, Budgeting, Investing and Insurance). This was written by the author to enlighten his children about the lessons he learnt about money that his Business School never taught him. The 99 lessons here are ever fresh and true. The idea that it was written to reach out to his children should help you understand how easy it’ll be for you to understand everything he says.

The Total Money Makeover- Dave Ramsey: Here, the author tackles bad money habits and shows you 7 steps on how to walk your journey to financial freedom. David is a No. Bs author, he treats debt like trash and wants you to stay away from it.

Your Money or Your Life- Vicki Robin: Your Money or your life is a book on money relationship. It carries a whole new concept of you creating a healthy relationship with money. This book will teach you how to get money but not at the detriment of other things that matter. Money is a tool and should not create vacuum instead it should be used to promote peace and value in your life.

You’re a Badass at Making Money- Jen Sincero: With this book, you’ll learn how to build a healthy money relationship. You’ll learn how to accept money as what it is (neither good nor evil) and understand that wanting money doesn’t make you greedy. The book is more about the importance of money, (why you should go for it in a legal way) and develop financial goals to become rich.

Creature From Jekyll Island- Edward Griffin: After you’ve read book 1-9, the next best book that will happen to you is Creature From Jekyll Island. This book will reveal to you the monetary system that the world operates on, the history of money and how we got to where we are today with fiat money, The Federal Reserve System, Banking System, How the Government Controls Money and so many more secrets that will be exposed to you. This book will take you into another world of understanding when it comes to money matter.
